Vision Programs

Northern Illinois University offers one of the nation's preeminent programs for training professionals to provide educational and rehabilitation services for persons of all ages who are visually disabled. The program consists of four components. These are: 

  • Training teachers for work in the schools with children who have visual disabilities
  • Training orientation and mobility specialists to work with children and/or adults who are visually disabled
  • Training vision rehabilitation therapists to work with adults who have visual disabilities.
  • Coming soon: Training assistive technology instructional specialists to work with children and/or adults who have visual disabilities.

All of the programs are approved by the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired.
